Meet the people powering our mission

Thomas Alkeskjold is CEO at Optheras. He has a background as innovation manager at A.P. Moller-Maersk, and as engineering manager and director of R&D at NKT Photonics, with more than 20 years of experience in the field of optics and photonics. He holds a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Laser and Fiber Optics Technology from the Technical University of Denmark.

Jan Bertholdt Hansen is head of business development at Optheras. He has held various leadership positions within MedTech/HealthTech/Life Science where he has served in CXO, board, and co-founder roles in both large corporations and start-ups. He has experience in product development and commercialization of innovative solutions, with a focus on leading new international business initiatives and growth strategies. He has a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and an Executive MBA in business development, innovation, and technology management.

Mia Andersen is Head of RA/QA at Optheras, where she oversees quality and regulatory compliance across the organization. She brings more than 10 years of experience with ISO 13485, EU MDR, and global medical device regulations, and has a strong track record in building scalable Quality Management Systems and guiding companies through inspections and certifications. Throughout her career, including roles at Dawn Health and Radiometer Medical, she has strengthened quality cultures and built high-performing RA/QA teams in both startup and established environments. She has a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Aarhus University.

Karin Mogensen is Head of Clinical Affairs at Optheras. Since 2003, she has worked as a Senior Clinical Urologist at Herlev-Gentofte Hospital in Denmark. As a surgical specialist and a specialist in urology, she brings active clinical expertise. She also holds a Master of Public Health.

Felix Fleischhauer is Senior Medical Engineer at Optheras. He is project manager for pre-clinical investigation work. In this role, he works closely with both the product development engineers and the medical team. He has a M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Luebeck, and focused during his studies on laser physics and optics in medical applications.

Mark Denninger is Senior Optical Design Engineer at Optheras within fiber interfacing and general optics development. Mark has worked in the photonics business, with development of fiber laser systems, for almost 20 years. Prior to this he worked with development of microfluidics systems. He graduated from the Technical University of Denmark in 1998 with a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.

Thomas Sørensen is Senior Electrical Engineer at Optheras. He has a background as a RF engineer at Cobham Satcom, and as lead developer in electronics at Oticon Medical. He brings more than 15 years of experience, including a strong focus on analogue and embedded electronics, and several years of experience developing electronics for medical devices. He has a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

Per Petersen is Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at Optheras. He has more than 15 years of experience in development of medical devices and equipment. He has over 25 years of broad experience in mechanical design, starting in oil rigs, and later moving to medical devices (such as hearing aids).

Karoline Enemark is Usability & QA Engineer at Optheras, focusing on Usability Engineering and Document Control. She has a background as process manager and developer in Device R&D at Novo Nordisk, and as a usability engineer at LEO Pharma. She has more than 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry and holds a M.Sc. in Design and Innovation from the Technical University of Denmark.

Mette Maack is Senior Project Manager at Optheras. She has a background as Senior Project Manager at Hollister Incorporated, and over the past 20 years she has held several roles within development of medical devices. She has a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

Thomas Arnbjerg is a Software Consultant, with more than 25 years of experience in software development. Thomas has created many software platforms over the years, including software documentation packages needed for market clearance of medical devices in the U.S and Europe.

Emily Maack is a student assistant in the Production department at Optheras. She has previously worked for one year as a student assistant at WS Audiology, which is co-owned by T&W Medical A/S. She is currently studying molecular biomedicine at The University of Copenhagen.

Marius Arnbjerg is a Development Engineer assistant in the software department of Optheras. He previously worked for ~3 years at Radiometer Medical, mainly with software validation, and is currently studying for a M.Sc. in Engineering (Innovative Communication Technologies) at Aalborg University.

Lucas Maack is a student assistant in the Engineering department at Optheras. He has previously worked for two years as a student assistant at WS Audiology, which is co-owned by T&W Medical A/S. He is currently studying Engineering Physics at the Technical University of Denmark.

Louise Baruël Weng is Clinical Study Manager at Optheras, focusing on study planning and setup of procedures for documentation. She has more than 5 years of experience in the medical device industry, having worked as Clinical Study and Data Manager at UNEEG medical. Louise has a background in neuroscience research (Ph.D. and postdoc projects) and a M.Sc. in Medicine and Technology from the Technical University of Denmark.

Peter Skov is Senior Quality and Regulatory Engineer at Optheras. He brings over 25 years of experience within QA and RA, with support for production, focusing in the later years on design control within new product development. A significant part of this experience has been developing and improving systems used within these areas. He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Helsingør Teknikum.

Violeta Jiménez Castilla is a Medical Engineer. She works at the intersection of regulatory affairs, preclinical and clinical investigations. She has a background in Pharmaceutical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and has experience within the medical device field, as well as in preclinical and clinical research.

Jakob Skov is Chairman of the board at Optheras, bringing over 25 years of experience in business development and executive management within the photonics industry. He is responsible for establishing NKT Photonics, and holds a MBA in international business from Aarhus university in Denmark.

Claus Rømer has a background as VP of Product Compliance at FORCE Technology, with over 15 years of experience in RA & QA in the medical device industry. He is an ISO 13485 lead auditor and an expert in design control, risk management, safety, and EMC for electrical medical devices in EU and USA. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.
